HOW TO USE MAYA FOR MODDING

WRITTEN BY NAGILIANT

Hello everyone, and welcome to our tutorial on how to use Maya for creating League of Legends custom skins. The plugin that we use on RuneForge is by Tarngaina–called LoL Maya

When installing the program, make sure that you have the latest release installed, you can confirm as such on github:

Where you install the program by downloading the LoL Maya .Zip file on GitHub.

When opening the .zip file, extract it into your Maya folder for plugins under Documents/Maya/2023

1. INSTALLING

Once you have extracted the plugin files into the folder as mentioned above, please open Maya 2023 where you will then go under Windows, Settings/Preferences and then open the Plug-in Manager where you can open up the LoL Maya plugin and its settings

Under the LoL Maya settings, you can see various boxes that you can tick. From there you tick off Loaded and Auto Load for LoL_Maya.py

And that’s it for the settings!

2. PLUGIN SETTINGS

Now that you have the plugin installed, all you need to do is select the files that you wish to modify. If you have followed our Obsidian guide, then you should have the files you wish to modify already extracted.

From there you can simply import the files such as .skn, .skl and .anm, like usual or through the LoL Maya panel, and modify them to create your own custom skin.

Once you are finished making the skin or simply want to test out the progress that you have made, then simply export back to .skl, .skn or .anm like usual or through the LoL Maya panel.

And that’s all for downloading LoL Maya for Maya 2023!

3. USING .SKN, .SKL AND .ANM

This is all for our tutorial on how to get Maya ready to create mods for League of Legends! We sincerely hope that you will join our community and that we get to see what you make!
